George R.R. Martin endorses Deb Haaland for New Mexico governor
Haaland welcomed the author's support, telling followers she has watched all eight seasons of Game of Thrones twice.

Author George R.R. Martin has endorsed Deb Haaland for governor of New Mexico in a video shared on her Instagram account on October 6.
"We're electing a new governor, and Deb Haaland is running. She has my support. I hope she'll have yours, too," Martin says in the video.
Haaland welcomed the endorsement in the accompanying caption. "I've watched all 8 seasons of Game of Thrones twice, so this one means a lot," she wrote. She also credited Martin with contributions to New Mexico's art, culture and environment.
Martin, whose A Song of Ice and Fire novels were adapted into HBO's Game of Thrones, has lived in Santa Fe since 1979.
Haaland, a member of the Pueblo of Laguna and former U.S. interior secretary, is the Democratic nominee for governor. She became the first Native American U.S. Cabinet secretary in 2021. She faces Republican nominee Gregg Hull in the November 3 general election.
If elected, she would become the first Native American woman to govern a U.S. state.
