White House Council on Native American Affairs schedules October 28 general meeting
Agency representatives are set to approve the activation of committees and committee leadership at the interagency council's second general meeting, according to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

The White House Council on Native American Affairs has scheduled its second general meeting for October 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern at the Interior Department's Yates Auditorium in Washington, D.C.
An announcement on the Bureau of Indian Affairs website says the meeting will follow an open format for agency representatives to approve the activation of committees and committee leadership, followed by an open caucus for committee leads to approve initiatives and deliverables. The Assistant Secretary for Indian Affairs is slated to lead the meeting.
The Council says it was established to improve the coordination of federal programs and the use of available federal resources, through inter-agency work across the executive branch and “regular and meaningful tribal-Federal engagement.” The notice does not specify whether the public or press may attend, whether there is a livestream, or what opportunities Tribal leaders will have to speak.
The BIA page lists the October 28 session as a general meeting of the Council; the committee actions it describes are planned for that meeting.
